Inter Triumph in Fiery Beverley Derby

Inter beat the Colts in their own back yard 2 – 1 thanks to a second-half Adam Foster penalty.

The Humber Colts suffered their first defeat of the season as Inter Beaver travelled across the tracks to take part in a fiery local derby that saw three players sent off.

Match official John Curry faced a tough challenge, although he deserves a lot of credit for keeping the game moving.

Inter had took the lead in uneventful first half, although all the action and controversy was saved for the second half, which saw the Humbers Colts level the scores within minutes of the restart.

With scores level Inter brought on former Colts player Gary Collins. Collins walked on to the pitch only to be greated by boos and taunts of ‘Judas’ from the Colts’ faithful.

As the match looked to be heading to a draw, Scott-Jon Tyler battled hard in the Colts’ box only to be fouled. Curry wasted no time in pointing to the spot and awarding Inter the penalty.

Before the kick could be taken, Stew Scott received a yellow card for running back on to the pitch to celebrate. New signing Foster stepped up and scored, sending the visitors into a frenzy.

With time running out Inter’s Tyler dived in on Colts’ Tom Moore, who reacted by chasing the player and jumping on him. What followed was a scuffle involving both sets of players, although it would be fair to say many were acting as peacemakers.

Curry’s response was firm – Inter’s Adam Pardoe and Tyler of Inter both got straight red cards while Moore also saw red for the home side.

Boasting an extra man, the Colts carved out three more good chances, the best being a free kick that could have easily been headed in.

Colts’ Manager Tony Henderson said: “I endeavour to achieve an optical illusion of no comments!”
