The Beverley Guide Dogs Branch is appealing for people to come along and volunteer to help them. There are no time limits set on you, as whatever time you can spare to help would be greatly appreciated. This could be just one hour a month, or as much time as you are able to spare. By doing this YOU will see your help really does make a difference.
The charity needs volunteers to get involved in local fundraising activities, which vary from street collections and coffee mornings to visiting schools and teaching children about the important role of guide dogs. We are also looking for Collection Box Coordinators, who will place our collection boxes local venues and empty them every 3 -6 months.
Or maybe you would like to host a Get Together in aid of Guide Dogs – get dunking, get dining, get doing (sponsored events), get digging, etc. We have a year round programme of events – but any event can be done at any time of the year.
Or how about a Go Walkies event – this is a sponsored walk with a twist – the dog is sponsored and not the owner!
Sam Bradley, District Fundraiser for Guide Dogs said:
“It costs £10 a day to breed, train and support each of the 4,500 guide dog partnerships in the UK, 5 in Beverley alone, and as the charity receives no government or statutory funding we rely entirely on the generosity of the public. That’s why Guide Dogs’ network of branches is invaluable to us.
“We are interested in hearing from anyone, regardless of how much time you have to give. Fundraising for the charity is flexible and interesting so please get in touch to find out more.”
