Beverley Treasure House Local History Lectures & Guided Tours

Yorkshire Theatres, The Nuns of Watton Priory, East Yorkshire Building Recording and ‘South Riding’ are the subjects of this autumn’s lecture programme held in the Treasure House, organised by the archives & local studies service.

This autumn series, now in its eighteenth year, commences with a lecture delivered by Ian Small entitled ‘Tate Wilkinson’s Monarchy – the Yorkshire Theatres in the late 18th Century’ on Friday, 28 October.

Dr Michael Stephenson follows with new research on ‘The Nuns of Watton Priory from the Foundation to the Dissolution’ on Friday, 4 November.

‘Recording the Buildings of East Yorkshire’ is the subject of Ed Dennison’s lecture on Thursday, 10 November and finally, Dr Lisa Regan will conclude the programme with ‘Winifred Holtby’s South Riding: Representing Yorkshire from the 1930’s to the Present’.

Lectures commence at 7.30pm in the Treasure House. All speakers are experts in their respective fields.

In addition, a guided tour entitled ‘Tumbled Brick Work in Beverley Town Centre’ will be led by Dr Joan Kemp on Wednesday, 2 November, at 10am. A maximum number of 20 pre-booked places are available, meeting point at the Treasure House.
