Art At The East Riding Community Hospital Beverley

Local artists who have created artwork to enhance patient areas in the new East Riding Community Hospital at Swinemoor Lane, Beverley will got their first opportunity to see their work on display.

Around 250 entries were received for the Community Arts Challenge, set last year to attract art to display in the hospital that that portrays the natural beauty of the East Riding. 40 pieces were chosen by a judging panel to display in the outpatients, therapies and inpatient ward areas of the new hospital.

Chairman of NHS East Riding of Yorkshire Karen Knapton met the successful Community Arts Challenge entrants during the Hospital preview day on 18 July to present them with certificates and a token of appreciation from the NHS.

Karen Knapton said:

“We were delighted with the response to the Community Arts Challenge, which included dozens of photographs, paintings, collages and even a sculpture.”

“Local art groups, school children and amateur photographers were all inspired to produce work to enhance the look and feel of the new Community Hospital for patients, staff and visitors.”

“The artwork is a very welcome sight for everyone entering the hospital, and I want to thank all the people who submitted their work.”
