Beverley Entrepreneurs Benefit From NEA Scheme

Beverley businessmen Mark Wainwright and Marc Mason had the opportunity to meet local MP Graham Stuart and Councillor Jane Evison and show how New Enterprise Allowance Scheme helped kick start their businesses.

Marc was full of praise from the scheme and the support he got in setting up his Luxury Chauffeur business he said;

“Business has been fantastic and I am already looking forward to expanding the fleet due to the high demand.”

Mark Wainwright who has a specialist painting business called PaintzFiction set up through the NEA told how he was able to secure the help needed to turn something he loved doing into a business.

Mark said;

“My previous full-time work came to an end, and as I was already carrying out custom paint works on a casual basis, it was suggested to me by my Job Centre advisor to consider the NEA scheme.”

“After securing funding and with support from an enterprise coach at the council’s business centre, I set up working from home but the workload soon increased so I had to acquire a new unit at Beverley Business Park.

“Being able to put the skills I have to use each day in a job I enjoy is great and there is the real potential for business developing going forward.”

Mark’s story does not end there. His business seems to be growing, and the move to a unit has helped him become more productive and more focused on his job, he told HU17.net;

“I moved into this workshop in May. It was a breath of fresh air for me as while I was working from home it was easy to get distracted. I still work long hours, but I am able to get a lot more done.”

Looking through Mark’s portfolio I notice there is a picture of Jordan Rushby, a Beverley lad making his way in the world of motor cycle racing.

Mark explained he provides product sponsorship to Jordan, he said;

“I used to race bikes. I know how hard it is to raise the funding you need to race. Jordan is a dedicated lad and very talented, so I do what I can to support him.”

Mark does not just paint bikes and crash helmets, around his workshop, there are plenty of other items, including a large bench and part of a steam engine he has been asked to paint.

Graham Stuart who owns a motor bike himself was very positive about the both businesses, he said;

“It is great to see two local businesses benefiting from the NEA, there are so many entrepreneurs in my constituency who are trying to build a business, and I am determined to support them all.”

East Riding of Yorkshire Councillor, Jane Evison said, “The New Enterprise Allowance Scheme has been extremely successful in East Yorkshire, with over 2,000 people entering the scheme and a healthy 45 per cent of entrants completing the programme and launching their own business.

“Due to the success of the scheme it has been extended from March to September this year and a further 750 places have been made available in East Yorkshire, we are delighted to be able to continue to help people get back into work.”
