Beverley Dance Group Come Second In World UDO Street Dance Championships

Street Beatz dance class teacher Clare Moran is once again celebrating the success of one of her Beverley based dance groups.

Twelve girls who dance as ‘Lucky Chip’ took on twenty four teams from around the world going on to claim second place in the World UDO Championships this month.

Held in the Glasgow it was only the second time they have competed together as a dance group.

The girls qualified for the world championships by winning the British Championships in Sheffield back in March.

An elated Clare told HU17;

“We were not going there with any great expectations. I had a lot to deal with in my personal life so training and was very difficult.”

“The team worked really hard. We put together a Red Riding Hood Theme and done our best.”

“Their performance was so good we had a standing ovation from the judges, something that has never happened with any of my classes in the past.”

Not only did Lucky Chip win second place overall they bagged another twenty seven trophies in the quad, duo and solo categories.

Clare added;

“All of the girls now realise that if they work hard they can achieve great things. This was a fantastic end to what was a difficult and negative time for me in my own personal life.”

“As long as they keep enjoying it and coming to classes I will carry on, we have another competition to prepare for next month.”

“In the grand scheme of things were are smallest groups, no one really knows about us but after this event, even other dances groups were very complementary of our performance.”

In October, the girls will be off to Sheffield to take part in a National Competition.

They are looking to raise money and are appealing to anyone or businesses that would be interested in sponsoring them in their next quest, to do so please contact mclare@streetbeatz.co.uk
