A retired Director of Education a retired English teacher, residents of Beverley, were arrested at Crawberry Hill well site yesterday approx 3pm after meditating in front of the gate, following what he described as a “Major Health & Safety Breach”.
They were on their way for a weekend break, and visiting site to drop off sun cream for sunburnt protectors.
Val Mager said;
“East Yorkshire is one of the last corners of England’s green and pleasant land. I am a Buddhist so for the sake of the place where I was born and out of compassion for all those who live here I support the Protectors and will use non-violent protest as I see morally right.”
Jon Mager said;
“I was arrested while meditating peacefully. It was not necessary to arrest me, there was room for the contractors to proceed with what I judged to be their unlawful activity. I will continue to support the Crawberry Hill camp.”
“However we are both now banned from Walkingtion and the roads around the camp until our court appearance. Fracking is wrong, bad for local landowners and all of us using Yorkshire Water and only hastening the destruction of future lives by carbon emissions.”
Time to learn from the Countries who HAVE banned this practice…French company Totale competing for fracking rights in UK when its banned in France…
Question more….!
Capitalism can’t even re-distribute wealth it stolen from the economy,it`s hardly gonna be in the nations interest let alone the communities it/has destroyed 🙁
The police should be ashamed of themselves for arresting two peaceful people who have every right to voice their opinion and stand up against fracking that will harm your beautiful countryside and local residents. I am from the United States and the spills are coming fast and furious. I applaud those that are protectors of our mother earth, someone must stand up to these Corporations that care nothing about us or the environment only profits. Solidarity with Crawberry Hill Protectors!
French company Totale are competing for fracking rights to frack the UK- When fracking IS banned in France, as is many countries its banned too. Why ? because of the dangers and the corruption involved and inability to find those responsible from original disasters and short-cuts taken from past drilling ….
