Val Wood Book Signing At WH Smith Books This Saturday

This Saturday, award-wining author Val Wood is celebrating the release of her 21st novel, Little Girl Lost, with a book signing at WH Smith Books in Beverley.

This is the 21st book release from the Beverley author who rose to fame as the winner of the Catherine Cookson Prize for Fiction in 1993. Her first novel, The Hungry Tide won her a deal with international publishing firm Transworld and Val has written a book each year and continues to top the book charts with both new and reissued titles.

Val will be launching the novel in Hull, the city and surrounding area features heavily throughout her bibliography. Hull is the setting for many of Val’s books, with the latest set around central locations; Whitefriargate, Parliament Street and Land of Green Ginger and is sure to satisfy the expectations of her army of loyal fans.

Val says: “Hull has such a rich and intriguing heritage, I do extensive research to ensure that I include historical facts along with the fiction. This book tells the story of Margriet, a lonely Hull-born child whose father travels by sea to the Netherlands, leaving her only in the company of her unaffectionate mother and an imaginary friend. The book touches on themes of childhood imagination and womens’ rights.”

But it is not just Hull that features in the author’s work. Val says:

“My publisher, Transworld is reissuing my novel, The Kitchen Maid which is set in Beverley. I am currently working on a town trail to accompany its release early next year.”

“Book signings are very exciting and I am fortunate to have a very loyal readership in Beverley. It’s a joy to meet and thank my readers personally. There is a wonderful atmosphere at the book signings and I can’t wait to hear what my readers think of Little Girl Lost. My readers have shown steadfast and constant support over the years for which I am eternally grateful.”

Val will be signing copies of Little Girl Lost at WH Smith Books, Toll Gavel, Beverley on Saturday 7th November at 11am.
