Riva Lounge and Cafe Bar has ceased trading less than two years since it opened at the out of town retail park Flemingate.
News of its closure was met with sadness from some locals, including the founder of the Beverley based charity, Bundles of Joy, Claire Raper.
Speaking to HU17.net she said;
“It’s a huge shame that Riva has shut, the staff, were always friendly the food was always good, and the atmosphere was always great sat inside or out.”
“It really is such a shame an independent business has gone from Flemingate, and the town just wished we could support our local businesses more.”
Opened in May 2106, Riva Lounge and Cafe Bar aimed to bring something different to Beverley by creating the look and feel of an authentic European lounge bar and café bar.
Investing more than £500,000 n the concept, in the design, fixtures and fittings, Riva Lounge created 24 full and part-time jobs when it opened.
Riva Lounge are the second business to close their doors since the multi-million pound development Flemingate was opened a little over two years ago.
News of the closure of the business comes just hours after the Beverley Chamber of Trade presented to their members their plans to explore a new incentive, Beverley BID.
Social media posts with regard to the closure of the business have in the main ones of regret that Riva has ceased trading with many people offering words of support to the owners and staff that have lost their jobs.
Despite its closure Flemingate still boats a further twelve venues on the site that offer ‘food and drink’ including Gourmet Burger Kitchen, The Firepit and Buca di Pizza.
Concerns have in recent months been voiced in Beverley over the number of food-based business’s trading in the Market Town.
