Beverley Westwood Lions pulled off a superb bonfire night and firework display which was enjoyed by thousands of people.
An annual event, bonfire night in Beverley is one of the most popular events on the calendar.
Members of Beverley Westwood Lions expressed their thanks to people who attended for their generously at the event.
Club Secretary Judy Sagar said;
“We would like to thank all those who attended our firework display on Monday night. Also, we want to thank those who made a donation.”
“This is a free event and to ensure we can continue to hold it we rely on the goodness of people to support us.”
“May I also take this opportunity to thank the local schools again. St John’s and Keldmarsh Primary School’s both made excellent guys for the bonfire.”
This year the Westwood Lions faced an increase in costs of £800 to stage the event.
Beverley Westwood Lions Firework Night is a Sparkling Success
Monday proved to be a huge success with the numbers of people who attended and also the quality of the display they put on. While anyone feeling cold could also warm up by a giant bonfire.
People at the event got to enjoy a stunning firework display and bonfire. The club had also put in place entertainment and food stalls to help make the evening go with a bang.
In the run-up to the start of the event, the Westwood was also transformed into a sea of light. This was created by the vast numbers of people walking across the pastures with their torches.
Now their attention will switch to Christmas and also New Year as they go into a busy period of fundraising in the community.
Things they will be doing in the coming weeks include Santa and his Sleigh while on New Year’s Day they will host their fun run.
