100 YEARS OF SPORT AT NORWOOD PARK 1909 – 2009
A new exhibition called 100 Years of Sport at Norwood Park opened in Gallery Two of the Treasure House, in Champney Road, Beverley, on 10 July 2009.
The exhibition is a celebration of sport at Beverley Town Cricket and Recreation Club at Norwood Park. Since the club opened in 1909 it has provided the town with a wide variety of sporting opportunities and activities.
Curator Alison Brice said: “I was overwhelmed with the amount of support we have had in putting this exhibition together. Members of the club have contributed by researching the history of each sporting section, loaning photographs and ephemera, and recording their own personal memories. If anyone else has any memories of the club we would love to hear them.”
The exhibition provides an insight into the history of the club and the development of each section. The wealth of material in the exhibition panels and on display re-creates the special atmosphere of the club – a truly local sports club.
The exhibition runs from 10 July to the 6 September
