HMS Beverley

Beverley does not appear to be twined with a Royal Navy Ship though during World War II HMS Beverley a former American destroyer was part of the Atlantic Fleet its role to protect the merchant ships.

The ships crest has a white star, the star indicates that the destroyer was a formally owned by the US and was part of a swap deal between the US & UK governments.

Unfortunately HMS Beverley was sunk by a U Boat off the coast of Iceland; a memorial for those 151 men who lost their lives is located in the Memorial Garden next to St Mary’s Church.

With the help of  Ships Badges & HMS Cavalier Association we are able to bring you some pictures of the ships crest, the ship and its history. The HMS Cavalier Association would be very please to hear or receive any information related to HMS Beverley, please contact them through their web site.
