Eastgate Bookshop is closing and owner Barry Roper who has been running the shop for close to 26 years explained that his trade has declined as more parking restrictions are applied in Beverley.
Barry said “People can not get into the town and park 1 hour is not enough to for someone to visit the whole of the town”.
He also pointed out an ongoing problem that tourists face when visiting Beverley, “Coach Drivers have no where to drop off and wait, they are not allowed to wait in the bus station and some are getting parking tickets.”
Barry in the process of packing up his books opened his store when he left the RAF way back in 1981, he was kind enough to let us take some pictures of his store which is spread over three floors.
