Beverley RUFC’s influential centre Junior Tupai out with a broken
Once again lady luck has turned her back on Beverley RUFC with influential centre Junior Tupai suffering a broken arm in a tenth minute injury at Chester last Saturday. This is the third broken arm suffered by Beverley players in as many weeks, in an unprecedented run of injuries.
Goran Jelencic also suffered a horrific looking injury where he collided with the Chester full back and was unconscious for fully four minutes. Fortunately the injury is not as serious as first thought but he is naturally unavailable for this Saturday’s home fixture with Cleckheaton.
Cleckheaton have not started the season well having narrowly lost all three of their games, but they have been against tough opposition and the Beavers will not be treating them with anything other than the utmost respect.
Even though they lost narrowly at Chester last Saturday the Beavers, given the disruption caused after only 15 minutes by the loss of two of their most influential backs, did well to remain in touch with a youthful and lively Chester side which was demonstrably relieved to hear the final whistle.
For Saturday’s match, the Beavers are unable to finalise their squad until after training on Thursday but it will be selected from the following players :-
R.Bussey, V.Collingwood, P.Dale, J.Gardiner, J.Barnes, B.Sherwood, I.Archibald, M.Hatfield, A.Meagher, F.Pickering, M.Adams, G.Gibson, D.Worrall (capt), D.Hodgson, J.McKay, A.Riby-French, D.Wilson, D.Brant, M.Shaw, C.Brant
