Road reconstruction works are scheduled to be carried out on Sundays starting later this month.
The work will start on Sunday , 11th October and will be undertaken on seven consecutive Sundays except 8th November 2009 which is Remembrance Sunday.
As well as taking out about eight inches of the original carriageway and replacing damaged ironwork, the council will also be resurfacing approximately half of the junction on New Walkergate/Manor Road at the end of Hengate.
To enable us to carry out these works safely, Hengate will be closed at 7am on the Sundays and will be opened again at 9pm on the same day. The diversion route for HGV traffic will be via Keldgate/Flemingate/Armstrong Way/Railway Street/New Walkergate. The diversion route for all other traffic will be via North Bar/Wylies Road/Manor Road. Advance signing will be in place to advise all traffic of the suggested alternative route via A1079 and Dog Kennel Lane avoiding Beverley town centre.
Hengate – Closed to through traffic for six sundays starting on the 11th October 2009
