Beverley RUFC hope to build on their victory over Rochdale last Saturday with another when they pay their first ever visit to Rossendale in their National League Division 3 fixture this weekend.
Rossendale were the early season favourites to possibly win the league this year, having recruited well during the last close season, but they have disappointed and are lying one place above the Beavers in the table with the same number of points after 10 games. In point of fact their playing record is remarkably similar to Beverley’s and a close fought encounter looks to be on the cards.
An interesting point on Saturday will be the reunion with former Beverley player Patrick Pole, who is likely to start at No 8 for Rossendale. The Tongan only spent about 4 months with the Beavers before departing to Bradford & Bingley, but the Beverley defence will need to be at their best to deal with his breaks from the back of the scrum.
Although Mike Kilgannon is extremely doubtful following his foot injury picked up last week, Beverley hope to welcome back Goran Jelencic from injury to compensate.
