Beverley entertain Rossendale RUFC this Saturday, in a rearranged match, due to the Lancashire side’s pitch being waterlogged last weekend. This means that Beverley ‘s keenly awaited local derby with Hull Ionians has to be put on hold, as RFU rules state that rearranged league matches have to take preference over Yorkshire Cup matches.
As Rossendale’s pitch is still likely to be out of action it has been agreed to change the fixture to Beaver Park.
Due to injuries and uncertainty over a couple of players’ availability, team selection will be delayed until as late as possible. Coach Barrie Pearce says that “We hope to field a strong side for what is an important fixture for us. Rossendale have an almost identical playing record to ours and lie one place above us in the league, on points difference only. A win for either side will keep them in touch with teams near the top of the table.”
