Free Christmas Parking in Beverley

A popular scheme to give Christmas shoppers in the East Riding free weekend parking will come back into effect from this Saturday.

Last year shoppers were allowed to park for free during the three weekends in the run up to Christmas.

The promotion will start again from Saturday, December 5 and last until Christmas.

Councillor Stephen Parnaby OBE, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “This initiative was very popular last year and we are pleased to offer it again this December.  We hope that people will take advantage of the free parking by coming to East Riding towns to do their Christmas shopping.”

Shoppers using East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s car-parks or on-street parking locations will find once again that machines will not accept their money.

Signs have already been put up to advertise the offer, which is designed to help residents, visitors and businesses in the East Riding.

Councillor Matthew Grove, portfolio holder for highway maintenance, streetscene and emergency planning, said: “We hope that this measure will, for a second year in row, help thousands of seasonal shoppers as they buy gifts locally for their friends and family.

“We hope that shoppers will be encouraged to come to the East Riding to try the wide range of quality shops on offer in the pleasant surroundings of our wonderful market towns.”

All council car parks will be free from 8am on Saturdays until 8am on Mondays this applies to the following council car parks in Beverley:

Butcher Row, Saturday Market, North Bar Within, Spencer Street, Lord Roberts Road, Grovehill, Beverley Leisure Centre, Grayburn Lane, Princes Gardens, School Lane, Trinity Lane, George Street, Norwood.
