With a weekend that saw all the field sports cancelled HU17.net spoke with Chairman of Hodgsons FC, Lee Hastings asking how he feels the break from playing may effect his sides performance when they finally return to action.
Hastings said “I don’t see this lay off as a problem. The team are taking a well deserved break at the moment after a hectic start to the campaign. With a fully fit squad to pick from for the New Year, its looks promising. Let us just hope we can maintain the same form as last year.”
Hastings was also quick to quieten down any talks of more players joining Hodgsons FC, talk on the touch line was linking Hodgsons FC with Tom Moore after Hastings was spotted at a number of Humber Colts games though his response should be enough to end all speculation about the transfer;
I would also like to clear up any rumours currently circulating about that there will be NO more transfers in or out for the remainder of the season. Next up for us is Beverley Town Reserves, a local derby not to be missed on the 16th January at the Beverley Leisure Centre.”
With the snow melting and it looks like Hodgsons FC first game in nearly a month due to adverse weather and the holiday period will be their derby match where defeat will not be an option.
Hodgsons FC also got confirmation of the cup draw as Lee Hastings said “Quarter Final of the Senior Country Cup has been drawn, 6th February a nice away trip for us to Filey Town.”
Rest of the draw: Dunnington vs North Cave, Riccall United vs Aldbrough United, Bridlington Sports Club vs Sherburn
