Both teams contributed to an exciting match that at times was end to end. Beverley were forced to make changes due to injuries. Jake Holmes switched form midfield to goal-keeper for Beverley and had an assured game making one great reaction save.
In the first half Rams began strongly and had the best of the early chances. Rams Ben Hearfield rounded on a loose ball, composed himself and scored the opener for Beverley. Hessle then came into the game keeping good possession they soon equalized when a wide angle shot went in off the post.
In the second half Beverley’s James Busby played well and ensured Rams kept up the pressure. The game was tight but as the half entered its last few minutes Dale Dennett scored a peach of a long range free kick to go 2-1 up.
Hessle kept pushing right to the end and in defence for Beverley Joe Hird and Jake Farrell combined well.
