Volunteers Acknowledged for Positive Work in the Community

Media Team

Beverley College

Members of the Media Crew who made a positive contribution to the community through their work with CSV East Riding’s Vinvolved Team in 2009, gathered today at East Riding College in Beverley to receive official thanks and recognition for their efforts. Kerry Straw, Beverley Renaissance Partnership Coordinator and John Bird, Chair of the Festival of Christmas, presented the group with awards and spoke highly of the work they had all done

Sue Dudill, Youth Volunteer Adviser, explained how they had also taken part in a Youth in Action Youth exchange project funded by the British Council in Serbia during October when they shared their experiences and skills with their counterparts in South Eastern Europe.

European Commission Youth Passes were presented to the participants present from this exciting project which will further enhance their CVs and employability factor.

Sue said, ‘2009 was an incredible year both on a local and international level and so much was achieved through some excellent partnership working and the sheer determination of the young people at the project. It has been my privilege to work with them and I look forward to working on more great events in 2010’.

On Friday there is a double celebration for Beverley when Sue and 2 of her volunteers, Kayleigh Cooper and Jamie Baker, will attend a ceremony at Lincoln Cathedral to receive Diana Award Awards of Excellence, along with Ali Crompton and representatives of the Beverley Open Doors Community Project who have also been cited as great young ambassadors in our town.

The Award was created in 1999 by the Diana Memorial Committee who felt that her belief in the power of young people to change the world, and her desire to reach out to people who might otherwise have been marginalized, should not be allowed to end with her tragic death.
