East Riding College has made it into the prestigious Sunday Times list of the Best Places to Work in the Public Sector.
Appearing in the newspaper yesterday, the College was ranked 35th overall and scored in the top 10 nationally on topics such as how stimulating staff feel their job is and how they view their personal growth.
The entry into the top 75 was based on the College’s application for Best Companies accreditation which it achieved at the first attempt this year and which involved an employee survey covering a number of key areas.
Principal Derek Branton said: “I would like to thank all our staff for their hard work and dedication to ensuring our students get the best possible education at the College.
“I believe our staff derive a lot of satisfaction from being involved in the development of people of all ages and this, along with our significant and continuing investment in staff development, has played a major part in our success in the Best Places to Work listing.
“To achieve Best Companies accreditation at the first attempt was excellent but to make it into the top 75 Best Places to Work in the Public Sector is a fantastic outcome.”
Among the key findings of the survey of College staff were:
• 80 per cent of staff feel able to contribute to the success of the college (the third best score nationally)
• A 69 per cent positive score for questions on personal growth overall (the sixth best result nationally
• 74 per cent (the eighth best score in mid-sized bodies) view their work as stimulating
• 55 per cent say there are opportunities to learn and grow and 66 per cent say the training they receive is of great benefit to them personally
(both top 10 rankings)
The results are based on a survey sent to all staff which asked questions on the following eight areas: leadership, well-being, my manager, my team, my company, personal growth, giving something back and fair deal.
