Easington United Vs Hodgsons FC

Daniel Atkinson and Stew Scott Hodgsons FC

Hodgsons FC made the long trip to Easington looking to pick up maximum points from the leagues basement team. The tanners did that winning the match 3 nil, however, if wasn’t all plain sailing for the Beverley side.

It took 33 minutes before the deadlock was broken, and it was Daniel Atkinson who scored with a neat chip shot over the keeper, following a flick on by Wes Monteiro. On what was a wide pitch Easington appeared to adapt well, playing the ball wide and looked dangerous at times.

Fortunately the Eastenders had left the shooting boots at home, and never gave goalkeeper Matt Dexter any serious problems.

The second half was very much the same as the first, with Hodgsons FC creating a few chances, but the home team certainly applying more pressure and looking the more dangerous.

It took a good 30 minutes before Hodgsons FC scored a second. Danny Cartwright was the scorer following good footwork and a neat finish past the Eastenders keeper.

Substitute Stew Scott grabbed Hodgsons FC third goal, firing a left foot shot hard and low into the back of the net.

The result could have been more emphatic if the referee hadn’t disallowed goals from Jordan Dexter and Wes Monteiro for offside.

Man of the match – Captain Paul Silvester

Although not vintage once again, Hodgsons FC still didn’t look in any serious trouble and always had that next gear to step into if needed. What was pleasing for the tanners, was Ben Daniels starting and finishing the match after a layoff with a bad back, and the return of Adam Foster and Karl Wallis for the next match away to Viking Raiders.
