Air Cadets Road March

On Sunday 11th April, 399 (Beverley) Squadron Air Cadets hosted the final training day for the Central & East Yorkshire Wing road marching teams.

Central & East Yorkshire Wing has 28 local Air Cadet Squadrons and covers a large geographical area ranging from Stockton in the North to Keighley in the South and across to Hull on the East Coast and is administered from the Wing Headquarters at RAF Linton on Ouse.

The teams are training for the RAF 2 day road march which is held at RAF Cosford at the end of April and consists of marching a predetermined 40km route each day, the wing has 3 teams of 15 (13 cadets plus 2 adult staff) entered for the event as well as 2 junior teams who only need to complete 20km each day.

From the performance at RAF Cosford a team is selected to participate as part of the British Military Contingent in the annual Nijmegen 4 day marches (again covering 40km each day) in Holland during July.

Due to other commitments as the training day coincided with the Wing inter squadron athletics numbers where down, however the cadets completed a 31km route on minor roads around the north of Beverley.
