Air Cadets Clean Memorials in Hengate

On Sunday 25th April staff and cadets from 399 (Beverley) Squadron Air Cadets met at the memorial gardens in Hengate to clean the HMS Beverley and RAF 640 Squadron memorials, over the years the stonework has become dirty and required a heavy scrubbing to bring back some degree of cleanliness.

Overall it was a busy weekend for the squadron, with staff and cadets spread around the country, as well as the memorial cleaning cadets where involved in a Cadet 150 event in Leeds, staff and cadets where at a Regional Activity Centre weekend at Linton-on-Ouse and other staff and cadets where taking part in the RAF WAFMA 2 day road march at RAF Cosford.

  1. Good for you, cadets. You’re a credit to your families, your squadron and yourselves.

  2. At this time of the year, my uncle PO Stoker Albert James Goodyear is always remembered by his family as he was lost on April 11th. 1943 whilst serving his country aboard HMS Beverley. Thank you all in Beverley for your kind thoughts as we pray for all those who were lost on that tragic day.
