The museum and art gallery on the first floor at the Treasure House in Champney Road, Beverley, will be open on Bank Holiday Monday (3rd May) from 9.30am – 5pm, offering a range of exhibitions, as well as a gift shop.
Current displays include the unique South Cave weapons cache and a final chance to see the replica of one of the Iron Age swords from the cache.
In Gallery 2, the exhibition “Capturing the Spirit” looks at wartime photographs by Bridlington-based studio portrait photographer William Foster Brigham FRPS, along with contemporary artefacts and costume from the museum collections.
Gallery 3 offers a selection of paintings from the permanent collection by the famous Beverley artist Frederick Elwell R.A.(1870-1958), along with the oil painting “A Panic” by H.W.B. Davis, probably the world’s largest cattle picture.
In Gallery 4, “Fibre Voices” a 10th anniversary exhibition by Fibre Art Wales is a display of contemporary textiles.
