Members of the Beverley Lions Club were present at the handover, at the Beverley Leisure Centre, of a special mobile electric hoist that the Beverley Lions Club have helped to finance. This special hoist is used to lift adults who attend the Millers Day Centre in Beverley on to a trampoline to do Rebound Therapy.
This enables approx 10 people to attend the leisure centre each week to do this activity. Trampolining has immense health benefits and whilst it helps to develop spatial awareness it also is a great way to exercise. It is hoped that other disabled customers who visit the Leisure Centre will also be able to use the equipment in the future.
The Millers Day Centre in Beverley supports adults who have learning disabilities by providing various activities each weekday to about 65 people. The activities vary from jewellery making, photography, computers, art and craft etc and are part of a busy daily programme.
Paula Brown, Senior Programme Worker at Millers said “We have specially trained helpers to assist with the use of the trampoline, the hoist is wonderful.
Millers and the leisure centre are very grateful for the support given by the Beverley Lions Club to purchase this specialist equipment.”
Lion, Bill Rice, is also Chairman of the ‘Friends’ of Millers.
