Youngsters Enjoy Softball Cricket at Norwood

Cricket is alive, well and set for a bright future thanks to the efforts of everyone at the Norwood Recreation Ground.

On a bright but slightly chilly Monday night, dozens of youngsters flocked to Beverley Town CC’s ground to get their first tastes of what is hopefully a life-long love affair with the game.

Senior players give up their Monday evenings from 6pm to 7.30pm to introduce under nines to the game through softball, a fast-paced, safe and addictive form of the game.

Everyone has a chance to bat, bowl and field and as there is little time to get bored, all the youngsters are kept active and involved, and receive great advice from the club’s coaching staff.

There’s ample parking space for parents to watch their children, and with the clubhouse open, junior cricket being played on the adjoining pitch, and bowls and tennis in full flow, Norwood Recreation Ground really fulfils its role as a place at the heart of the community.
