In the other game at the Norwood Recreation Ground, Pelican beat the fourth XI in a real thriller.
Batting first, Beverley’s Ian Morrison smashed 10 fours in a fine 59 as the home side made 189 all out. There were also solid contributions from Rob Wicks (34), Ray Teal (26) and an important, unbeaten 21 from number 11 Sam Welburn.
Beverley took regular wickets as Pelican took their turn to bat, but runs were scored and they edged closer to the home side’s total.
They eventually inched home by one wicket thanks to number nine Andy Tyson’s 35. Pick of the bowling for Beverley were Neil Goforth (3-38), Gareth Richardson (2-53) and Tristan Featherby (2-23).
