Cottingham Springboard Festival 2010

Cottingham Springboard Festival is a 3 day long live music event. This year it took place on the 27th to the 30th of May. It is spread out across six venues; The King Billy, The Hallgate Tavern, The Blue Bell, The duke of Cumberland (Eskimosoup stage upstairs and the Off The Road stage downstairs), Cross Keys and The railway Hotel.

All weekend Cottingham was homed to a friendly atmosphere and people ranged from all ages. Everybody was joined together by a love of real music and raw talent. The acts varied from comedians with acoustic guitars to metal.

On the Friday we were joined by Georgia Seddon, a very talented young musician with a sound quite similar to Regina Spektor. Also on the Friday played My One Man Band, The Notebook and Awash With Antler, each of them had their own unique and astonishing sounds. Over at Cross Keys was a completely different atmosphere with the Go-Go-Kings, the place was packed and their loud and lively performance was all that was needed to finish off a great night!

On the Saturday Daniel Mawer began with a Baby shambles inspired performance along with Fudgey, Sam Jones and the wonderful John Copley and The Belle Collective, proving to be a “performance worth paying for”, later on Black and White Tango played King Billy ending a fantastic day.

On the last day of this memorable weekend the sun began to shine once again and the place was filled. There were more great acts lined up including Joe Solo, Pigsty, Infamous Radio, Lewis Blofeld and many more the evening ended the weekend perfectly with a communal dance of all styles round the back of the main stage in the King Billy Pub, goodbyes were said and the springboard organisers began to pack up all their hard work and have already started the preparations for next year’s festivals. The weekend was a huge success and next year is looking to be even better!
