Beverley Lions showed their support for The Yorkies after they completed their Ride Across Britain.
The group of cyclists from East Yorkshire, with many from Beverley, completed their 1,008 mile cycle from John O’Groats to Lands End this week.
And the Beverley Lions, through their fundraising efforts, presented them with a cheque of £900 earlier this week, which goes towards Help For Heroes, MacMillan Cancer Support and Paralympics GB.
The Lions’ Bill Rice told HU17.net:
“They are trying to raise £100,000 and they have nearly got there. They have made a superb effort for their chosen charities.”
Bruce Marr, 63, one of eight cyclists to compete from Beverley, said: “This donation came totally out of the blue, and it was such a generous amount too.
“We’d like to say a big thank you to the Lions.”
Great stuff! I am amazed that such elderly gentlemen could survive the trip.
