A good crowd of people showed their support for the Beverley Church Lads and Girls Brigade for their recruitment and fun day that was held at Beverley Leisure Centre.
Despite the looming presence of the World Cup, many local people turned out and enjoyed an excellent day and listened to the latest competition piece from the Brigade band.
Apart from the music, there were plenty of traditional stalls including coconut shies, hook and duck and score a goal, the stalls which were run by the parents managed to raise close to £500.
One other notable highlight of a fine event was the wood slide, built 25 years ago by Brian Wilson and still attracting the crowds for the mini ‘white-knuckle’ ride.
Mr Wilson had never before tried out his ride, but with a little persuasion from HU17.net, he boarded a cart to finally try it for himself to the delight of onlookers.
