Hobbies can easily consume your life – so it helps if your hobby can actually become your way of making a living.
That’s exactly what happened for Kilham-based East Yorkshire businessman Tim Stanforth.
Tim, 50, was displaying his impressive 1936 Armstrong Siddeley 120 at last week’s Classic Car Rally in Beverley.
It’s the latest in a fleet of classic British and German limousines that Tim and wife Pam use for their business, East Riding Vintage Wedding Cars.
The powerful three litre, straight six engine is enough to make any car fan drool, but its the sheer size of it that makes the biggest impact.
Tim told HU17.net: “It’s a beautiful car to drive, it’s massive in the back and we use it for wedding work. It’s big enough to take any dress.
“It’s new to me this year, nobody has seen it before and it creates a great deal of interest.
“It’s built as a limousine and it was definitely built for somebody titled. It’s a very rare car and it is so smooth. It has a Rolls Royce quality build.
“Everybody loves it, they want to get inside it and look at it.”
Tim’s background is in the motor trade, but his move into the wedding industry happened by accident.
He continued: “We started over 20 years ago as a hobby but it’s grown from a hobby into work.
“I started with one car, but people started to ask me to do weddings.
“I didn’t like to do it with one car and no back up so I built another car and we have built it up to where we are now.”
