Beverley LTC teams had a disappointing week in their respective Driffield leagues with three of the four teams again struggling to pick up sets in their matches.
Beverley Mixed lost a close fought match at Pocklington against steady opposition, Pocklington C holding their nerve to win three of the sets on a tie break.
The 7-2 defeat did not reflecting the quality of some of the tennis played and once again Sharon Lockwood and Paul Miller took the honours wining both of Beverley’s sets.
Beverley Men’s C had a busy week playing their Driffeld League Section Two knock out match against Hutton Cranswick B on Monday, and then travelling to Settrington later in the week, for the return league match against Settrington B.
The C team were unable to match the more experienced Hutton Cranswick side and went out of the cup to a 9-0 defeat. They were also unable to repeat their earlier winning performance against Settrington, losing 8-1 with Joe Glendinning and Sam Bullement taking the set for Beverley.
Beverley Men’s A continue to struggle in Division Two and lost heavily to Pocklington B 8-1this week, the prospect of end of season relegation seeming more likely as the team remain at the foot of the table.
It was let to Beverley Men’s B to restore some club pride with a 6-3 win at Harpham, with each pair playing consistent tennis to take two sets a piece.
