Beverley Town Trail is Officially Launched

Beverley folk came out in numbers to celebrate the launch of the Beverley Town Trail in Wednesday Market today.

Hundreds of people gathered to watch local schoolchildren perform on the big stage in Wednesday Market to mark the launch of the excellent Medieval Trade and Crafts Trail, which has been almost a decade in the making.

Dignitories from Beverley Town Council and the East Riding of Yorkshire Council were joined by members of Visit Hull and East Yorkshire (VHEY) and the Heritage Lottery Fund for the big day.

Schoolchildren from Molescroft Primary, St Mary’s Primary and Swinemoor Primary performed period songs from the 1970s to Victorian times, with the Dad’s Army theme tune and Any Old Iron proving particularly popular.

Young volunteers from vinspired provided activities for the younger end of the age range.

The event was MC-ed by local councillor Matt Snowden. Members of the Town Trail Committee gave speeches extolling the virtues of the Town Trail, and a large crowd were provided with information about what the Town Trail offers.

  1. You do not mention the Mystery Plays which were essentially the centre-piece of the day.
