Beverley’s Weekend Cyclying Fest

Sprinters and road cyclists are gathering in Beverley for this weekend’s cycling feast.

Friday will seen the town centre turned into a high-speed course for the latest round of the National Circuit Racing Championships.

Previous events have been a roaring success. Visitors to the town can get an up close and personal view of the racers as they travel at breakneck speed through Beverley’s streets.

The evening starts at 6pm on Friday, 16 July, with a series of warm-up events. The main race is expected to start at 7.45pm.

Saturday is a chance for riders of all standards to take part in the 2010 Big G – Grimpeurs des Wolds Cyclosportive.

There are three courses for riders – 60km, 100km and 160km – starting in Beverley and taking cyclists throughout the Wolds, this starts at 7am.

Sunday is the big one with the running of the East Yorkshire Classic. Attracting some of the best riders in Britain, the race takes competitors through the East Yorkshire countryside, finishing with laps of Beverley.

The race, round 10 of the British Cycling Premier Calendar series, starts at 8am.
