The Archbishop of York gave his blessing to the Syntan barge this weekend.
Dr John Sentamu travelled along East Yorkshire’s waterways to York from Beverley Beck on the Beverley Barge Preservation Society boat to bless the York Millennium Bridge on its tenth anniversay.
While on the Syntan, he also blessed the plaque which commemorates the restoration of the barge.
The Syntan used to be owned by Hodgsons Tannery to carry hides and other tanning materials to and from Hull docks.
The barge was salvaged from Doncaster Power Station in 2001 and has been returned to its former glory.
