After a summer of transport industry shows throughout the UK, specialist logistics and driver training provider TIR Training Services is returning to its roots by sponsoring the Truckers Summer BBQ, Driffield Showground, on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd August.
TIR is an associate sponsor of the event, which is part of the popular Truckfest series of truck-themed festivals featuring family entertainment, stalls, live music and a truckers’ “It’s A Knockout”.
The company, which is based in Beverley, East Yorkshire, has spent the past few months appearing at major UK logistics and transport shows and gatherings – including the Commercial Vehicle Operator Show and Multimodal 2010 – to talk about its work with national logistics companies and promote its LGV simulator-based training courses.
Managers from TIR also recently visited the US to conduct in-depth research into LGV simulator training with a view to expanding its use in the UK.
Tim Watson, Sales and Marketing Manager of TIR, said Driffield’s trucking event of the year was the perfect homecoming for a business with its roots firmly in East Yorkshire.
He said:
“We’ve been so busy travelling the country and meeting partners in the US that it’s great to be back on home soil and engage with businesses in our own region. When a company operates nationally it’s so important to stay in touch with the local business community. We’ve grown locally, most of our staff are local and we have an awful lot of loyal customers in this area.”
TIR will have a fleet of training vehicles on show at the Truckers Summer BBQ, so while children are clambering into the cab their parents can find the answers to questions about legislation and developments in the transport industry.
TIR will also offer the chance to win free driver training in a competition exclusive to visitors to the Truckers Summer BBQ.
“This is the region’s best day out for truckers, their families, people interested in driving as as career, and anyone who just loves trucks!” said Tim.
“The industry is changing dramatically, with new legislation governing training and qualifications, more stringent health and safety rules, and pressure on businesses to reduce carbon emissions from delivery fleets. We’ll be there to help untangle the issues for visitors and answer their questions.
“And, for one lucky winner of our competition, there’ll be the chance to win free driver training. This will be valuable for anyone already working in the industry, but could also open up a whole new career route for someone who’s considering driving as a job.”
The Truckers Summer BBQ will include spectacular competitions for trucks including Best Truck at Show, Best Fleet or Classic and Vintage, and Battle Of The Monster Trucks. Gates open at 9am and car parking is free.
