Beverley 4th XI put in a spirited performance against North Ferriby but was beaten in the last over at Norwood. Neil Goforth was joined by yet another new opening partner in Under 15 ‘keeper Rob Fish and they put on 125 for the first wicket.
Goforth was out for 64, in the process passing 700 runs for the 4th XI this season, and Fish went on to narrowly miss his maiden senior half century when he was bowled for 49. At 155 for 3 with nine overs remaining Beverley hoped to break the 200 mark but despite 18 from Gareth Richardson, 11 from Jamie Roe and an unbeaten 21 from Sam Welburn they fell just short on 197 for 6.
If the Beverley batting line up had an inexperienced look about it the bowling certainly did. One under 13 and three Under 15 players made up the bulk of the attack. James Grainger bowled well to take 1 for 27 from ten overs while both Jamie Roe (0-23) and Kes Thompson (0-23) both produced very good spells. Spud McMullen lacked last weeks consistency but still managed to claim two wickets. Welburn bowled ten overs without taking a wicket while Goforth entered the attack to claim one victim as Ferriby won with just five balls to spare.
Beverley 4th XI lost to North Ferriby 2nd XI by 5 wickets, Beverley Town CC 4th XI 197 for 6 North Ferriby 201 for 5
