The best in local food has again been celebrated in an Awards Night organised by Beverley Town Council, and sponsored by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, to promote high-quality food produced in the local area, ahead of the Food Festival itself on October 3rd.
The awards were presented to the winners of the following categories:
Sausage – Pickle/Chutney – Preserves – Pie – Dairy Product – Dessert
Drink – Meat Dish – Vegetable Dish – Baked Goods – Oils/Dressings – Fish Dish
Both the judging of the entries and the awards night itself were held in Tickton Grange, whose enormous support from all the staff make the awards night possible. Tickton Grange continues to be at the forefront of promoting local food, and is a vital partner in the Beverley Food Festival as a whole.
The entries were judged by Cllr Matthew Snowden, Helen Watson (Beverley Town Clerk), Paul Vinsen (Chairman of the Hull and East Riding Hospitality Association), Paul Bell (Head of Economic Development at ERYC), Mayor of Beverley Bessie Foot and Jonathan Parker from BBC Radio Humberside.
The awards raise awareness of the quality and variety of fine foods on offer in this part of the world and are sure to help make Beverley a nationally recognised area of excellence in local food.
Town Councillor Matt Snowden told HU17.net “We are here to celebrate the best in local food and showcase the best producers that will be at the Beverley Food Festival on the 3rd October.”
