Beverley Town were able to play at the Norwood Recreation Ground for the first time this season.
Beverley Town went into this difficult game missing five first team regulars but started the better of the two sides. In difficult, windy conditions Town managed to get the ball on the floor and play some bright passing football. After creating several chances they took the lead after some persistent work from Craig Lamplugh led to him driving into the opponents box and calmly lobbing the keeper.
Town continued to dominate with Chalk Lane not offering much in the way of attacking options. Town scored a well worked second goal after 30 minutes with some fine link up play between Matty Dixon and Jimmy Symes, which led to Dixon calmly side footing past the Chalk Lane keeper.
This spurred Chalk Lane into action and their increasing pressure finally tolled after a slick move down the left hand side saw a pin point cross met full on by the Chalk Lane striker and headed into the top corner. At this point, Town were glad to hear the half time whistle.
Second half started very much in the same vain with Town on the back foot defending for their lives. After 55 minutes honours were even thanks to a fantastic 30 yard strike from the Chalk Lane left back that flew into the top corner leaving Town keeper Ben Thompson helpless.
The game then settled down as both teams tried to find a winner. Jon Ricardo and Craig Lamplugh in the centre of Beverley Town’s midfield both worked extremely hard to find an opening. On 65 minutes Chalk Lane were lucky not be reduced to 10 men when Symes was through on goal and was brought down by the Chalk Lane defender, Lee Mankle. However, Symes did get another chance 10 minutes later when he calmly slotted past the Chalk Lane keeper after being put through on goal by Lamplugh.
Town then saw out the remaining 25 minutes in a professional manner whilst Chalk Lane was reduced to 10 men on 80 minutes for a second bookable offence.
The full time whistle came as Town were in full control and continuing to create goal scoring opportunities. – Final score Beverly Town 3 Chalk Lane 2
