The month of October, Beverley is hosting two major food events
- Beverley Food Festival
- Global Charity Dinner Party – ‘Eat So They Can’
Beverley is just one of over 1000 parties that are going on world wide from Alaska to New Zealand. The host, Karina Clappison from Beverley has arranged her party for Sunday October 17th at Armstrong’s Social Club in Beverley 12 o’clock – 4pm. Absolutely anyone can sign up to be a host. Most events are going on the weekend of 16th/17th October but their meal can be on any date thereafter as long as donations are submitted by 31st December 2010.
Armstrong’s Social Club is within 200m of Beverley Rail Station on the corner of Armstrong Way and Grovehill Road. The Club has plenty of its own free car parking at the back, so is a convenient venue for the Beverley event.
The “Eat So they Can” Dinner Party is raising funds for orphaned and vulnerable children who are living in poverty. It is a global fund raiser that invites citizens of the world to participate in one huge Dinner party. Hosts from Singapore to South Africa, Australia to Alaska have joined the campaign and pledged their support by organizing an “Eat So They Can” event for their friends, family and work colleagues.
The funds raised at the events will go towards supporting orphanages and schools in Africa and South America, providing disadvantaged children with the essentials for survival.
According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) 2009 statistics, 1.02 billion people do not have enough to eat – more than the total populations of USA, Canada and the European Union.
In true Beverley spirit businesses have come together to provide amazing gifts and donations for this event. Including prestigious cafes and restaurants donating some mouth watering deserts! Karina says the food is sourced locally and some organically so will be fresh and tasty. Two food businesses in Beverley have a tongue in cheek ongoing challenge as to who has the most delicious chocolate brownie!
So it’s time to see who’s crowned the title of “Brownie King”. There will be a chance for people to taste and cast their vote. Also, there will be a “guess the ingredients” competition and other surprises as there are so many prizes up for grabs.
African entertainment will be giving the party some razzmatazz song dance and music, but most of all the idea is to have a great afternoon eating drinking and having some light hearted fun.
Entry is ticket only, and can be obtained direct from Karina 01482 868094 /07983 819350 / karina@angel7.karoo.co.uk
