Molescroft progressed to the second round despite missing several regulars including Goalkeeper Paul Bryce who was away in America on business and stalwart left Rich Dixon who was away filming his first adult movie. Molescroft showed their intent as early as the first minute with Mike Nicholson putting the Roos playmaker on his back with a thumping challenge that left him seeing stars and a virtual spectator for the whole of the half.
Molescroft dominated the half and took the lead mid way through with Sam Dixon finishing smartly after a lay off from Spruce. Missed chances were nearly punished as Roos almost equalised with their only chance of the half, a long ball flicked through allowed the Roos forward a clear run on goal only to be denied brilliantly by unlikely stand in keeper Sean Bolger sporting Gabor Kiraly padded bottoms. After the restart Molescroft took their foot off the pedal almost immediately and Roos equalised with only five minutes of the half played much to the annoyance of the crowd which included five times national domino champ James “Domino Harvey” Radley.
This seemed to provide the kick start Molescroft needed and they upped their game forcing Roos back for long periods of the game. With twenty minutes left Dixon got his second, cutting in from the right and firing low into the corner of the net and the game was finally made safe with five minutes remaining when form man Spruce got his sixth of the season with a smart finish from close range. Next week sees Molescroft in cup action again as they travel to North Frodingham to play Nafferton Old Boys in the 1st round of the Junior Country Cup.
