Hull Isberg came out the eventual winners in a very tight game at the Beverley Leisure Centre. The early stages of the match saw Isberg pressuring the Beverley line, but the focused Braves defence kept the Hull side out.
Beverley then found good field position and a brilliant dummy from scrum half Ethan Cambridge saw him make space and out pace the Isberg defence to dive over for the opening try of the game.
A catalogue of Beverley errors then let Isberg back into the game, with a good passing move seeing them score in the corner, the excellent touch line conversion then gave the away team a 6-4 half time lead.
The second half was as tight as the first, with both defences on top. Isberg’s strong running finally broke the Beverley line to increase their lead, with the conversion being aded to put Isberg 12-4 up.
With seven minutes remaining Beverley got back into the game with prop forward Josh Clark using his strength to burst through the defence and bring the Braves back in the game.
The last few minutes saw more Beverley pressure but the Isberg defence held strong throughout as they finished the game 12-8 winners.
For the Braves Jamie Smith, Ethan Cambridge and Ryan Bissett came out top in a very high tackle count but it was full back James Greendale who collected the man of the match award for his excellent all round display.
