After two good wins Town went into this game looking to keep the momentum going in the league. However for the second week running they started slowly and were behind after 10 minutes. Town failed to deal with a set piece from a wide right position and the Ferriby forward out jumped Jon Ricardo to head into the top corner.
This spurred Beverley into action and kick started the Michael O`Connell show!!
After some great work down the right, the ball was switched to Matty Dixon up front, whose deft header put in the on rushing O`Connell who calmly slotted past the on rushing Ferriby keeper to make it honours even after 20 minutes. Beverley were now starting to get a grip of the game, Jay Custus was inspirational in midfield, a mixture of silk and steel, winning tackles ferociously and creating openings with style! However Town took the lead with a route one effort straight from the keeper. Ben Thompsons long goal kick cleared everyone, and the ubiquitous O`Connell ghosted in to calmly lob the keeper with his right footed shot.
The second half was very much stop start, largely due to the referees insistence on blowing for every minor misdemeanour. Both teams worked hard to carve an opening, but chances were few and far between. Strikers Matty Dixon and new signing Steve Remi worked hard to find space down the channels, and Ricardo and Custus continued to toil in midfield, but the game had settled into a trough and it was going to take something special to spark it into life. This moment came on 60 minutes, when Ferriby striker took the ball at his feet from a throw in down the right hand side. Town were unable to deal with it, and the striker unleashed a shot from 25 yards that swerved viciously, causing Ben Thompson in the Beverley goal to fumble the shot and see it tamely dribble over the line.
Once again this spurred Town into life, and it was that man O’connell that popped up again to seal the win and grab a fantastic hat rick. After a series of corners were delivered by O’Connell, the ball found its way back to him on the right hand corner of the 18 yard box. He took a touch to control the ball and fired in a curling left footed shot that was heading towards the bottom left hand corner of the goal. It looked like Jay Custus was going to divert the ball into the other corner, but he skilfully dummied the ball, confusing the keeper and causing the ball to drop into the back of the net. Town were in front again, and with 10 minutes remaining were not going to relinquish their lead this time.
The final whistle came without further incident, and Town continued their run of form, making it 3 wins in a row.
