Piwinski Becomes ‘Three’Winski

In what was a most bizarre match, Hodgsons made it 9 wins from 9 after putting 8 goals past Brandesburton, but worryingly conceded 4 goals at the other end. There was never any doubt that the Tanners would pick up all 3 points on their travels, as just after the half hour mark they were leading 4-1.

Jordan Dexter opened the scoring with a looping header on 20 minutes. Then Danny Cartwright made it 2-0 with a superb volley from all of 25 yards out. The home side then pulled back a goal out of nowhere.

Not to be out done, right full back Danny Piwinski thought he’d get in on the act. He made it 3-1 ten minutes later with a right foot drive from even further out than Cartwright’s effort! The ball struck the inside of the post leaving the keeper with no chance. Leading scorer Adam Foster bagged his 13th goal of the season to make it 4-1 at the interval.

The second half was almost the same as the first, except for a dreadful 10 minute spell for Hodgsons, when the team seemed to totally collapse. Brandesburton pulled back a goal early in the second half to make it 4-2. Hodgsons made it 5-2 moments later when Piwinski let fly with another right foot shot, and once again the ball found the back of net. Next came two Brandesburton quick fire goals to reduce the score to just 5-4.

Changes were needed and manager Hastings introduced Danny Atkinson and Ben Wallis. The changes paid off almost immediately as Ben Wallis struck a fine shot into the back of the net for his 100th club goal. Brandesburton were flagging now and the away side took further advantage of this by scoring two further goals. Foster grabbed his 14th of the season with a neat finish and deep into injury time Piwinski capped a fine afternoon with his first ever club hat trick. He flicked home Chris Robinson’s fierce free kick with a sublime touch to leave him taking the ball home.
