Hodgsons FC made it a perfect 10 wins from 10 league games with a win against a rather poor Long Riston side. The last time these two sides met was only last season in the cup when Hodgsons beat Long Riston 8 – 1. After this match Riston will hope they don’t face Hodgsons for a long time after conceding 16 goals in just two meetings.
Hodgsons currently top the Humber Premier League Division 1, just 6 points ahead of North Cave who have two games in-hand. For the second week running The Tanners scored 8 goals, but this time kept that all important clean sheet.
Leading marksman Adam Foster opened the scoring after only 2 minutes. He lobbed the keeper from the edge of the box in superb fashion. The home side were in total control and scored a further goal through Jordan Dexter on 20 minutes. Adam Foster then made it 3 – 0 with a neat left foot finish courtesy of a Danny Cartwright pass.
Further goals followed in the second half. Just 13 minutes after the re-start and Jordan Dexter scored his second of the match with a close range tap-in giving him 5 goals in 7 appearances for the season. Adam Foster completed his hat trick on 48 minutes. Danny Cartwright made it 6-0 on 71 minutes before Adam Foster hit his 4th of the match and his 18th goal of the season in just 8 appearances, a truly remarkable goal to game ratio for ‘The Foz’. The rout was complete on 76 minutes when substitute Danny Atkinson fired home a powerful volley that the keeper could only get finger tips to.
Assistant Manager Andrew Blenkinsop said afterwards, “That was a much more clinical performance. We must look to build on this in the forthcoming weeks as we have some big games coming up.”
Saturday 13th November Hodgsons make the trip to Withernsea.
