Dexter Scores Two As Hodgsons Move 9 Points Clear

A Jordan Dexter brace gave Hodgsons all three points at Hull Road, on Saturday afternoon.

The performance was not vintage and at times the away side had to endure plenty of Withernsea possession. Although Withernsea did not create any real clear cut chances they did retain the ball very well.

Hodgsons FC perhaps created the best goal scoring opportunities. Both Adam Foster and Jordan Dexter just could not find the back of the net.

The game was being played at a fast tempo, and the referee was rather keen, repeated holding up play.

The second half was certainly better for the away side. The Tanners looked more interested and started playing the short ball game better.

Only few minutes into the half Jordan Dexter netted much to the relief of Hodgsons’ management, and their chance of securing the win was greatly improved when a Withernsea midfielder saw red thus leaving them with only 10 men.

To their credit Withernsea continued to work hard but found keeper Josh Sewell in fine form.

On 59 minutes Dexter finished calmly to make it 2 – 0 and effectively put the game to rest.

This was a great three points for Hodgsons and gives them 11 wins from 11 in the league. Their position at the top was made that little more comfortable after nearest rivals North Cave lost by a single goal to Brandesburton.

Hard working midfielder Dennis Edgar took the man-of-the-match award with a non-stop energetic display.

Hastings said afterwards, “That was quiet possibly the worst we’ve played this season. But take nothing away from Withernsea who did bring the game to us. Its a real shame the referee had an off day as the game could have been so much better to watch without the number of needless cards that were brandished.”
