East Riding Open Art Exhibition opens at Beverley Art Gallery on Friday, 10 December and runs until 5 February 2011.
The gallery would like to thank all artists who braved the snowy weather to deliver works to the gallery. The works on view have been chosen by two independent selectors: the artist and art tutor Steve Upton, and Kirsten Simister, who is curator of art at the Ferens Art Gallery in Hull.
Browns of Beverley kindly sponsored a prize for the artwork considered ‘most outstanding’ by the selectors, which was North Cave Trees by Val Mager. The selectors also felt that Heywood by Xanthe Mager was to be ‘highly commended’.
Many of the artworks are for sale so the exhibition is an ideal opportunity to buy a unique Christmas gift. For the first time this year we have produced ‘gift cards’.
If you buy anything from the exhibition as a gift, the gallery will present you with a gift card which can be given to the gift’s recipient. ‘Gift Card’ can then be brought along to the Gallery at the end of the exhibition and the present collected. We will also be gift wrapping any purchases bought as gifts.
Beverley Art Gallery is open Monday to Saturday and is also open for the Festival of Christmas on Sunday 12th December when we will have special Christmas craft activities for families.
