Beverley RUFC are hoping to resume their National League 3 (North) campaign this weekend with a home game against Darlington Mowden Park after a lay-off due to weather and the Christmas holiday stretching back to November 20th, when they beat Penrith by 30 points to 0.
Naturally the weather is still a factor in the pitch condition and the club officials are keeping a close eye on things, The heavy snow over the holiday period has now thawed out leaving a considerable amount of water just below the surface and the current, and forecast rain up to the weekend will cause some concern if it materialises.
Already 4 matches have been postponed due to the weather and any more would cause plenty of end of season problems in fitting them in.
The Beavers have some selection problems to sort out as well since both half backs Chris Infield and Phil Duboulay are working in Australia for the remainder of the season. In addition Locks Gavin Gibson and John Stephenson are both out, the former with a chest infection and the latter not available this weekend. Finally winger Goran Jelencic is in Slovenia visiting his sick mother.
On the plus side Fraley Hopa has returned to the club and will add much to the squad and Ian Archibald is fit again and will more than adequately replace Chris Infield.
